About Course

The Neurodiversity Practitioner course is a comprehensive online program designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to support individuals with neurodiverse conditions in a holistic and inclusive manner. This course consists of three main modules: Theory, Shadowing, and Practice

Part 1: Theory The first part of the course provides participants with a solid foundation in theoretical knowledge about neurodiversity and related areas. Topics covered include:

  • Understanding neurodiversity: Participants learn about the concept of neurodiversity and the diverse range of neurological variations present in the human population.
  • Neurodevelopmental conditions: An exploration of various neurodevelopmental conditions, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), including their characteristics, strengths, challenges.
  • Inclusive practices: Strategies for creating inclusive environments and accommodations to support the diverse needs of neurodiverse individuals in various settings, including education, employment, and community.
  • Potential pathways: Participants receive an introduction to 4 different pathways from which they choose 3. These pathways include Sensory Integration, Speech & Language, Social & Emotional Learning, and Literacy & Numeracy.

Part 2: ShadowingThe second part of the course involves job shadowing experience, where participants have the opportunity to observe and learn from experienced practitioners working within the pathways the participant has chosen. Participants are required to complete a specified number of hours of job shadowing and submit assignments reflecting on their observations and learning experiences. This hands-on component allows participants to gain practical insights into the day-to-day realities of supporting neurodiverse individuals and apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts.

Part 3: PracticeThe third part of the course focuses on supervised practice under the guidance of a qualified supervisor. Participants engage in direct practice with neurodiverse individuals, applying their knowledge and skills in a supervised setting. Participants are required to complete a specified number of hours of supervised practice and submit assignments documenting their practice experiences, reflections, and outcomes. This component allows participants to receive personalized feedback, guidance, and support from a supervisor, facilitating their professional development and confidence as neurodiversity practitioners. By completing the Neurodiversity Practitioner course, participants gain a comprehensive understanding of neurodiversity and acquire practical skills and experience to support neurodiverse individuals effectively within their areas of interest. Whether participants are students or professionals, this course equips them with the tools and competencies needed to foster inclusion, acceptance, and empowerment for individuals across the neurodiversity spectrum.
